Review on πŸŽ’ Large Backpack Rain Cover by Mountainsmith by Steve Arnold

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent coverage in light to moderate rain

I purchased a medium size for my Sierra Designs Revival pack. That's 65 liters / 3950 cu packed. A medium-sized raincoat goes very well with this. I read a few other reviews and one of them specifically mentioned that this rain cover can only cover the top of the pack down to the shoulder straps and if it rains really hard you can get wet on your back and possibly through your pack. This may be possible depending on the package. However, note that Mountainsmith makes a rain cover for many types of backpacks/situations. The only rain packs I've seen that seal exceptionally well are when they are designed and marketed by the pack manufacturer and made for a specific model. I don't even know how common this is these days but when I saw them they overlapped very well because they matched the packaging. If you're looking for some, if not perfect, rain protection, this case is as good as any in my opinion. If after trying this cover on your pack you find that there is a gap that allows heavy rain to come in and potentially wet your gear, you may need to plan for an additional cover like a tarp or poncho to drape over your back can throw when wearing.
