I would really give 3.5 but I don't have that option. Physically, that was everything I expected. Soft leather, perfect color and my checks fit perfectly but one of the main reasons I chose this check book was the pen holder which also keeps the check book closed. It's impractical. Inserting a normal sized small pin into both slots is so difficult that it takes several minutes. Very inefficient. So if you intend to use the pen slot as a lid, don't count on it. Otherwise very good quality and color.
