Review on πŸ“Š Advanced eufy Smart Scale: Bluetooth Body Fat Scale for Comprehensive Fitness Analysis, 12 Measurements, Dual Color Options (Black/White), lbs/kg by Rachel Coppedge

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Body fat changes appear to be calculated rather than scanned

Pros: - Quick and easy setup - Bluetooth connectivity is pretty good. I've only failed once so far. - Easy to read display, although the decimals may be too small for the visually impaired. Cons: - Companion iOS app needs to be enabled and nearby to get data other than weight and import it into iOS. Health. The iOS app is not very good. Definitely an afterthought for Yufi. And it's not really meant to be used at scale: charts and tracking metrics aren't really meant to be useful to the user. I just use my iOS Health app to visualize things. ** Body fat: This is the most important thing for me. I understand that body fat readings are not very accurate except with a professional scan. But I got it mainly to track progress and changes. Eufy claims they use electrical currents to read the body, but body fat levels appear to be strictly proportional to weight. For example, my weight is the same today as it was a month ago, and my body fat percentage is exactly the same to within ten percent. Is it likely? It's pretty obvious that most of the work is done by some algorithm and not by scanning the electrical current. You run and use the bathroom - it's easy to lose a few pounds of water weight in a day. But the scale claims that when I lost 3 pounds in a day, I also lost 1.3% fat. Such a change in body fat seems unlikely. Again, it's clear that most of the work is computational rather than electrical sampling. Because of this, I don't really trust it to detect when I'm putting on muscle (because muscle and fat weigh very differently). I will change my rating if Eufy releases a firmware update that makes fat readings more meaningful. At this point they appear to be made up - based on weight (and other variables) rather than actual electrical currents.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power
