Good tip at a good price

Just a background. When I was about 8 years old, all the students had to go to pen and ink classes. I struggled and since then my handwriting has become terrible. I've tried going back to calligraphy many times over the decades, but I've given up. Three years ago I felt inspired again and bought this pen. I gave up again. Due to Covid and time to myself I decided to try again. I can decide! Well, I've had good experiences with the Tombow Brush Pen. I tried writing with cheap glitter pens, they worked fine too. Now I feel confident, so I decided to try the pen. The results were somewhat disappointing. What I didn't like was the lack of a clear thick/thin line. Well, I had various inks in my stash, so I switched to Speedball acrylics with metallic pigments. It's old and a bit thick, but what's the difference with the lines! The moral of my story is not to give up, even after more than 40 years. It's a good pen and if you're having trouble, it could be the ink! FYI, if your ink is too thin, you can thicken it with gum arabic. I haven't tried it yet, but the website I visited gave very helpful information on what to do and how to make a custom fountain pen ink.
