I bought this for the desk as we now work from home. My feet get cold so quickly that I put my socks on and off. This mermaid blanket is perfect! Actually, it was my daughter's idea. There is a small hole at the bottom, not very big, and it allows my pets to get some air when they need it. I bought it back over the winter and when I received it and my daughter saw how soft and comfortable it was, she had to buy it. So I bought her one for Valentine's Day since she also works from home. We will use it all year round as our husbands keep the house colder than we would like in the summer and I even seem to freeze in the winter from the heat of our large wood stove. The small neck strap is very useful as it prevents the blanket from slipping down. You will not regret this purchase! BTW, my daughter is 5ft 2ft and I am 4ft 10, this blanket is MORE than enough to cover the chin and has enough length for us.
