Review on Juiced Systems USB C Power Cable by Omar Svagera

Revainrating 5 out of 5

FAST - most people are using the wrong hardware (Blackmagic Disk Speedtest)

clock speeds are just over 900MB/s read and 850MB/s write on my Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD (1000MB/s claimed) with read /write) which seems right for the money. I don't have hard drives fast enough to test the cable up to the advertised 10Gb/s (roughly 1200MB/s), but I have no reason to doubt it given its performance with a Sandisk SSD. Since it's currently my fastest USB-C drive, it's perfect for me. There may be some discrepancies with the copies of this cable people are getting, but I think most people who aren't getting these speeds don't have the right equipment. You need USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports on your computer (which is pretty rare, but I have them on my ASROCK X570 motherboard, most Type-A ports are only 3.0) and a fast enough SSD on the other end (also quite rare, e.g. Samsung T5 top speed is around 480MB/s). I got this because my new motherboard has USB 3.2 GEN 2 Type A connectors (don't know why not C but whatever). I was happy to find this cable. I'll let you know if I can get an NVME M.2 to USB-C adapter for testing faster drives.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • so far so good
