It doesn't look like an ashtray at all! It looks more like a ceramic jar, beautiful, beautiful color and surface, shiny. The best lid! You'll never have to look at disgusting asses ever again. It also masks any odor that a pile of cigarette butts would take away. I love this piece very much. Looks great on my glass patio (I don't smoke indoors) and no one will ever guess it's an ashtray. Bought another one for my office patio.
