I don't know how it works but it works amazing for me. I use it to connect to my laptop for conference calls and my audience confirms that the sound quality is great! I have bought so many different headphones under $50 but finally settled on these headphones. They make me very happy and since they are very affordable I buy them 3 times and give them away to all my family members. We've been using it for over 3 months now with no problems.
