As an aging, fading but real blonde I need a BROWN mascara - brown/black or black looks too harsh. I'm lucky that I still have long lashes and don't have to use an eyelash curler with this mascara, it works so well. I don't do more than one layer but add more around the corners as someone suggested. It doesn't hold together with just one layer for me. I had no luck trying to add more layers. I don't apply a second coat later in the day. If I was still working or going out I might be, but after I retire I'm doing fewer things. GET washable mascara if you want to wash it off right away! This stuff comes right off the bat, but I use a light face scrub.
