Review on Dritz 2 Piece Tapestry Needle Threaders by Lori Aguirre

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works with the smallest tapestry needles!

I've used many needle threaders, both wire and hook threaders (even expensive custom ones), and most of them cause more trouble than they help. Either it is too difficult to thread through the eye of the needle, or the needle threader is too weak. Most suffer from both defects. The hook on my needle threader was so weak that it bent the second time I used it. I prefer to thread the needles by hand (it's easy with practice), but sometimes the thread is too short for easy threading. That's where the needle threader comes in. Get down to business, this needle threader really works! I mainly use 28 gauge tapestry needles and I'm happy to say I was absolutely amazed at how well it worked. I tested it with different needles and it was threaded with all threads except the new size DMC 28 (the one with the new small eye). The eye of these needles is not long enough for the needle threader to slide through. But with everyone else it was easy as pie. Because the thread lies flat and doesn't stray like wire or hooks do, it goes through even the narrowest of ears smoothly, with absolutely no jerks. I've never had this experience with a needle threader, they all require a pull to get the thread through the eye. Mostly I'm afraid that the needle threader will break. I have it on the standard John James, Petite, Gold and Platinum, old DMC (longer thin eye), DMC Gold (still old eye but the finish isn't good, most are a bit rough), Mary Arden Petites and piecework tried out . All were size 28 except DMC Gold (size 26). Everything went very well for him. I have to agree with the buyer who commented that they don't stick to a magnet very well and for that reason I have to give them 4 stars. If it weren't for this deficiency, this would be the easiest 5 star review ever. Conclusion: Every embroiderer should have several of these needle threaders on hand.
