I'm giving 4 stars at the moment because I don't know if this is a genuine Philips lamp or not. There are some websites like this one that say an AM mark is an aftermarket Philips lamp, so not a genuine Philips OEM lamp. Not to say it performs poorly I'm sure as most reviewers are happy with the brightness. The box itself is a little generic and the sticker looks removed and there is a Philips sticker stuck on it so I had my doubts when I received it, there is no Philips branding in the instructions either and it is generic. My WD92840 is getting a little darker, so I want to put it on and see if it gets much brighter during the day like it did before and adjust my stars accordingly. If it's not as bright as it used to be, I'll have to downgrade the stars and say it's not a genuine OEM bulb. But I'll update once I check this weekend. Here is a website for spotting fakes http://www.counterfeitlamps.com/default.asp?CID=Spotting%20a%20FakeUpdate: I just installed a lightbulb, basically changing the lightbulb is a breeze. Just unplug the TV, make sure it's cool, leave it unplugged for more than an hour, or just do it in the morning before you turn on the TV. There are 2 Phillips screws holding the plastic cover over the lamp, facing the back of the TV, it is on the right side or front, back, bottom left. Then, after loosening the 2 screws, the plastic cover just pops off. You will then see a large Phillips head screw holding the old lamp (if your lamp is original). Unscrew it and the lamp just pops out. I tried to put this new bulb in, but the new smaller screws wouldn't screw in. Luckily I had a wooden stick and popped the screws out of the new case and managed to pop an old big screw out of the old one. cases, then I simply inserted the old, larger screw into the new housing. Then I could screw it in. My old OEM lamp was from OSRAM, it was a P-VIP 180/1.0 E22r. However, I crossed my fingers and reinstalled all the screws and the back cover. Plugged it in and turned it on. Wow I missed all that brightness, or maybe it's even brighter than I remember, but so far it's working well so I'm giving it up to 5 stars for now. 8/1/15 If it crashes soon I'll update the date of the crash here. Update 2: A few days after installation, the green light started flashing and the TV went off. Not sure if the bulb overheated and turned off, but it was no hotter than the day I installed it. I turned everything off and on again and everything works fine again. The lamp is brighter, but on some levels, white appears washed out in some scenes, and if you lower the contrast to an acceptable level, some scenes become too dark. However, when I use it, it definitely takes longer to start than my old lightbulb. Lowering the rating to 4 as it is not 100% reliable like the old lamp. Updated 01/01/2016. - still works perfectly. It takes about a minute or two to warm up and become light. It's a little darker than I remember when I bought it. but good anyway. Since then I had several flashes of the green LED, after which I had to restart the device by unplugging it from the mains for a few minutes. But that's all, in general it works fine. But I think the price should have been lower now, next time I'll try a cheap generic and see do I get the same results? Oh, and mine was supplied by a company called Electric Depot.
