My son loves his toy box, that's why we use it. I can assemble furniture from IKEA so I had no problem assembling it. When allowed, my young son will open the box, take out his toys and make a mess of his room. He likes to open, close and half-close. He likes to put things on the lid and by lifting the lid, he will drop them behind the box. As far as I can tell, he didn't slam the lid down on his tiny fingers. He slowly closes the lid on his hand and moves his hand away. I love this spot in his toy room so I can sit and watch him make a mess. He has yet to figure out how to get to the top. It's too slippery for him.
