I bought this for my cat because I wanted a warm place for her to sit while I’m at work and you’re not supposed to leave cats alone with actual heating pads. It’s one of her favorite places in my apartment now. First of all, this isn’t a powered heater or some kind of chemical thing like a hand warmer. It’s just a piece of astronaut blanket material with a soft covering. Calling it a "heating pad” is a bit of a misnomer because it doesn’t actually produce heat. What it does is absorb and store the cat’s body heat. You can feel the effect by standing on it with bare feet. So it won’t substitute for a radiator or anything, but it will give your cat an extra warm spot to sleep on. Cleaning isn’t too bad either. My cat threw up on it and I washed it off in the bathtub, although it apparently is machine washable too. I don’t know about that, I don’t have a washing machine and didn’t want to bring cat vomit to the local laundromat. She’s not a chewer so I don’t know how chew-proof it is either.
