I bought this to take with me on a trip. This backpack saved me on trips to USA, Germany, Turkey, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Belgium. Heating in less than a day, not a thread broke, not a valve came off - and it was only January. Alongside my Keene boots, this backpack has saved me on three different continents. Sure, it hasn't survived a real fire or explosion, but it's still a good backpack. It has plenty of room to pack and if you zip it up the back (carry it like a tote) you can pack even more stuff in the back. The straps tighten just enough so you can turn this bag into a carry-on no matter what's inside. You can buy a cute apathetic backpack and take a chance, or you can be an adult and buy a real backpack that will protect your belongings so you can focus on more important things.
