I have two of these on 55 gallon plants and they are awesome! I attached them to the top glass lids but the rod gets pretty hot so I moved it to the front glass where the water can cool it when the tank is full. The addition of RGB helps my plants and fish really stand out, the white light alone kind of blurs them out. Will it help my plants grow better? I have no idea as I am a terrible plant tank owner and am surprised I can even keep them alive. The timer feature is great if you have algal blooms or similar, you can shorten the time to get rid of them. I also suggest some Chinese algae eaters are way cooler than any catfish I've ever eaten. The only downside to the timer is that I feel like it's not perfect. I think it's a little off because it was on around midnight and I had to reset it to the normal 9-9 schedule.
