Review on 🌈 ALITOVE 3.2ft WS2812B RGB LED Strip Light: Programmable, Addressable, DC5V, Arduino & Raspberry Pi Compatible by Elizabeth Jackson

Awesome!: Lighting and ceiling fans

I've never used addressable RGB lighting so I didn't know what to expect, but I built and had a new gaming PC in a Cougar Panzer Evo RGB case multiple outputs on the color controller ARGB light strip just asked to be used. I bought Tronics Pro 4 pin RGB LED strip cable (also from Revain). Now the standard (ASUS, ASrock, Cougar, etc.) for 5V ARGB is a 4-1 connection (ground, unused, control, 5V), so one of the wires in the LED strip cable is not used. The connectors that came with the Alitove LED strip weren't useful (I couldn't find a JST ARGB 3 pin adapter anywhere) so I just unsoldered them and then the Tronics cable directly to the strip soldered. I have found that using double sided tape to attach the LED strip and wires helps a lot when soldering. For convenience, connect the black wire in the cable to the ground bar. It also helps to trim unused pins. To make it look good, I covered the rather conspicuous cores of the Tronics cable with a piece of black heat-shrink tubing. Note that Alitov's strip is directional - look for the arrows and don't connect it in the opposite direction. Now I could have just bought ready made LED strips, but I made it myself, saved a few bucks, and it was fun. My only regret is that I didn't purchase a longer strip. I have an Arduino that could be fun with one of these strips, and I have lots of leftover wires (they come in a pack of 10).

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Long wait
