After my two cats used up all the sisal in the previous post, I bought a new one. Obviously the cats tore the rope here too - that's what scratching posts are for. Instead of buying a new post ($35), I bought sisal (larger than the flimsy rope on posts I previously bought) and decided to just replace the sisal. It was extremely easy. We cut off the old torn sisal. Attach the end of the new, larger sisal. Wrap it tightly around the base of the post. Fasten the end. Then sprinkle with catnip. Both of my cats started using it almost immediately. I hope the big sisal will last longer.
