I bought one of these mugs to replace my favorite Nissan thermos that I have used for decades. I had no idea if Nissan contained BPA so I decided to switch. After decades of use, I'm not sure if it's worth switching to another one, but nonetheless. The Trudeau Umbria table mug fulfills its primary purpose of being a wide-bottomed, non-spill mug. With my cluttered desktop, that's a big plus. Its rubberized, non-slip underside contributes to this stability. The lid snaps securely into place. It has a pivoting component that closes and opens the vents and drawers. The junction of the two components will leak liquid if you tilt it or shake it vigorously - so don't do that. :) It performs the primary function of preventing a catastrophic spill at a random time. I'm not sure you can expect more from something that isn't a real thermos mug. The nominal 2 hour hold time is optimistic at best. My Nissan kept the liquid acceptably warm for several hours. I'd say Trudeau is good for about an hour until the liquid drops to a 'warm' level. But for such a light mug, I'd say it's quite acceptable. The grip is very comfortable. The rubberized body is also thin enough that I can comfortably hold the mug without using a handle. I struggled to give the Umbria mug 4 or 5 stars. I chose 5 because it really is all I could ask for at an amazing price. I liked the cup so much that I bought a second one in blue. :)
