available So I used the Maono Lapel mic both indoors and out and my video review starts with the standard iPhone mic for comparison, at -10dB less this mic is too strong to hold right up to your mouth, it should be on your collar, and it does a great job of sounding incredibly clear and loud. When the -10Db switch is on, it lowers the volume for everything so you might want to place the mic a little closer to your mouth, but it handles all ambient noise well as long as your mouth is close to the mic. . I could only test with an iPhone as I don't have a camera with a 3.5mm mic input, so I couldn't test the camera mode, only the smartphone mode and I'm happy with the quality of the mic. The cable is very long, which makes sense if you're using it in a tripod-mounted device a reasonable distance away from you, but if you're just using your phone with a selfie stick or handheld, the cable has plenty to offer to wrap and manage. All in all a highly recommended and excellent lavalier microphone.
