My daughter would NOT use regular children's toothpaste or even Tom's. I think this is mainly because she is used to training pastes that are clear and non-foaming. This one is transparent and doesn't foam for her. Don't get me wrong she struggled with this for a while but now she's demanding more of her brush which unfortunately at this point is sucking on the brush rather than actively brushing but it's an improvement. Although it doesn't contain fluoride (which I consider a plus), it does contain xylitol, which prevents tooth decay and isn't harmful if swallowed. I know that fluoridated toothpaste shouldn't be harmful in small amounts, but if I have an equally good chemical-free product, I'll take it. Yes, a bit expensive but less of a struggle with a stubborn toddler and can get her brushing her teeth so this mom is worth it.
