My 9 year old loves this mouthguard. He tried a few others for lacrosse before settling on this one. This one is well shaped and has a good fit and he can still talk, breathe and drink water with it so most likely he will abandon it. And leaving it is the only way to make it work! :) Oh, and we've bought this in the past and it's easy to redo if you need to make changes, which is really nice.
