I waited a few miles before writing this and now I have about 50. Firstly, if you order them be prepared to get new laces straight away. It's a shame for Salomon to put those laces on that boot, the worst thing I've ever dealt with. Went to Walmart and spent $2.57 on some of their download strings and they are great. Shoes need to be broken in a bit before walking out. I wore them to work for about a week and I think it helped a lot. They're quite comfortable right off the bat, but I wouldn't go straight to the track with them. They were now in shallow creek beds, mud, mud, stone/gravel trails, and lots of large rocks and boulders. So far they've done fantastically. I even wear them to work in bad weather. The only thing that struck me as a bit strange was the descent over rocks and stone steps. I felt a little more heel support than I wanted, not bad, and they did their job, but it was noticeable. I would highly recommend them and have no hesitation in continuing to use Salomon hiking shoes.
