Living, walking and hiking in the high desert of Utah, spring and summer temperatures are extremely hot, resulting in early plant drought. When hiking or walking in the country, dust and fine sand particles are thrown up. and worst wilted foliage combined with the dreadful foxtail spikes that somehow find their way into the tourist's shoes, even if he's wearing high booties with no gaiters. The foxtail's small spines pierce the skin of humans and animals; so hard to remove. I bought Nuolux half leggings to wear in spring, summer and especially fall and when hiking off-road. So far after many trips to the Nuolux half leggings I am satisfied as they "worked" as expected. For female buyers I would advise if the shins are thin just above the ankle, take the size (S/M) large size (I bought them), the elastic hangs over the ankle and tends to sag a bit to move. Maybe I should have considered a medium; but still happy with size L. Nuolux halves slip easily over hiking boots and are breathable, waterproof and lightweight. Really good buy for little money.
