This is the perfect flint and steel set. It's very well done. You just need to scrape off the black coating on the wand first before using it. It's heavy and long at 6 inches which will last forever. With a little tinder and sparks, it was very easy to start a fire. With all of the natural disasters these days, it never hurts to be prepared with a must-have emergency tool like this. I blew a cheap plastic whistle and it wasn't very loud. It's better than nothing and it's small but I wish it was louder. Although I can put this kit in my bag, it's not the smallest and lightest kit. If you plan on buying one that you can carry with you all the time, I recommend getting the smaller one. Otherwise this is a good choice.
