Review on πŸ“» Sony CFDS05 CD Radio Cassette Recorder Portable Boombox Speaker System (No Longer in Production) by Edwin Kreps

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Almost the best among ghetto blasters

I used to have two very bad CD players, both of which broke after a few months. (One was RCA, I don't remember the brand of the other.) So I decided to spend a little more and get something better. Well this is SO much better, albeit a little more, I hate to be picky BUT. I use the machine to play books while washing dishes, cooking, etc., so sound quality isn't the biggest issue. However, the sound quality is excellent and much better than the older ones. One thing about it is really annoying though! I often stop and start it when I'm working around the house. I can play it for a few minutes while I'm in the kitchen and then come back an hour or two later and play it again. This machine doesn't "stop" it exactly where you left it when you press pause. Instead, it reverts to the beginning of the current track after a minute or two, so it skips back a minute or two each time you unpause it (or maybe more, depending on the length of the tracks). This makes sense when you're listening to music (back to the beginning of the current song), but it really slows you down when you're listening to a book and need to listen to a bunch of songs before you get where you've been. I work on it by writing the track and time on a sticky note and then manually fast-forward to that point, but it hurts. So if you mainly use it for CD books, this might not be the device for you. Otherwise there would definitely be 5 stars, because otherwise everything (size, optics, sound quality) is TOP!
