Review on πŸ“€ RCA RP8078 5-Disc CD Changer (No Longer Manufactured) by Stephanie Martel

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Don't bother either. best in stereo shelving systems

I bought this used CD changer as an alternative to playing CDs only in the car or on my Discman. It works reasonably well (so far) on CDs that are factory cleaned and kept in perfect condition. However, error detection on this device is extremely poor. Slightly worn CDs that play just fine in the car or on my Discman will skip terribly on this player, sometimes multiple times per track. You have to fast forward them as the player cannot go through them. I bought a used CD off eBay with a few faint spots - and I mean the kind you have to hold up to the light to really see them - and you might think I'm trying to reproduce a CD that has been kicked . Gravel parking lot and encrusted with mud. As this is an early 80's CD I would advise against playing really old CDs on it. Also, as another reviewer noted, there's a gap between tracks, much like a bad CDR recording, except it happens on every disc that's played. Just try listening to something like Judas Priest's "The Hellion" on Electric Eye or Black Sabbath's "Don't Start (Too Late)" on Symptom of the Universe, where the tracks should flow into each other, and You will be immediately annoyed. One positive thing I would say is that some of my CDs that other players can't read the first second of track 1 play flawlessly. That's it. I can't speak for MP3 discs as I don't have them anymore, but other browsers have many complaints about this particular feature. Overall, I recommend buying another CD player.
