Review on MIRA 17 Oz Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Water Bottle - Keeps Beverages Cold for 24 Hours & Hot for 12 Hours - Blue Wave Flask by Toya Robinson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Trust the PhD, Mira insulates very well and doesn't leak.

Yesterday I posted reviews of the Simple Modern 22oz and Glacier Point 25oz summarizing that Simple Modern is very good insulator and Glacier Point is not very good. Received the Mira 25 oz today and did a similar heat test. Mira works the same as Simple Modern, ie very well. When 80°C water is poured at an ambient temperature of 22°C, the temperature outside the case only reaches 24-25°C (and about 29-30°C at the bottle neck), and the water temperature after 2 hours is 76° C and after 4 o'clock only a few degrees less. . So this Mira also works very well. And it doesn't leak (GlacierPoint has it, Simple Modern doesn't). Below is a copy of the review I posted about Bottles from GlacierPoint and Simple Modern. ---------- ----------- I bought a 25oz GlacierPoint and Simple Modern Die 22oz Summit which are said to be made of similar materials and have a vacuum insulated layer. However, GlacierPoint fails to both insulate and seal the lid. I used IR heat probes to confirm the poor insulation, which I could feel by hand: starting with 80°C water in both at 12:46 p.m., GlacierPoint's outside temperature reached nearly 50°C within a few hours , while Simple Modern ran at 24°C (today's ambient temperature is 22.5°C). Simple Modern feels cool to the touch, while GlacierPoint feels decidedly warm (not a good sign for a thermal insulator). Check out the attached pictures and read on, but the REVIEW is that the GlacierPoint looks hot on the outside and hot water on the inside, meaning heat energy is escaping, but the Simple Modern maintains near room temperature except for the lid. After 2 hours (see photo with oven clock showing 2:45 p.m.), Simple Modern's water temperature was still 80 °C, but the glacier point was 50 °C. 3.8 hours later (photo from 4:20 p.m.) was the water temperature of Simple Modern was 73C and the GlacierPoint was 43C. At this point I stopped testing as it became clear that the Simple Modern was doing the job and the GlacierPoint was not performing as advertised (in fact performance is what you would expect from a traditional non-vacuum bottle). Insulation). Another issue I had with the GlacierPoint was that if I shake the lid when there is liquid inside, I can squeeze a few drops (or more) out of the lid. This requires vigorous shaking, but this is obviously an issue when I leave the bottle on its side or in any orientation in low pressure environments (e.g. high altitude hiking or air travel). Simple Modern, on the other hand, hasn't leaked at all. I've waited a long time for a dewar (vacuum insulated laboratory container) to hit the consumer market and here it is. But avoid GlacierPoint for now as it either doesn't have vacuum insulation or is poorly constructed. I paid for both items myself and am not affiliated with either company.
