I like a good leather belt to help tighten my pants. This is an XL belt and measures approximately 48 inches in total length. The belt is 1 1/2 inches wide. The face is attractive with dark rims. (Image 1). It is leather, but upon closer inspection (photo 4) you can see that the core and back are made of hemmed and bonded treated leather. In my experience it's not as durable as full grain leather for a belt. I'm also concerned about the strength of the red cross stitch that secures the buckle's flap. (Figure 2). When you lift the end of the strap at the seam, only about 2 or 3 thread points are visible holding it. I don't think this would hold up to heavy use and deducted 1 star for the stitching design and leather type. The buckle is fine. I can give this women's + men's Hastings leather belt a qualified 4 star recommendation for the reasons I have given.
