So moms who care about size, I have a regular sized backpack that converts into a cradle. The protector is slightly larger than the actual part of the mattress. I wasn't sure if it would fit but once you put it on it will fit and if it shrinks in the wash you don't have to worry because it's a bit larger. It's soft and stretchy, but don't worry, it will eventually fit snugly and when you put a baby in it, it will have more padding! Like I didn't even want to cover it with a sheet because it's so comfortable. But be prepared that it will be a bit big.
