Review on AmerTac - Zenith CD1001DVDCLR Radial Disc Cleaner System by Will Rahman

Fine in a pinch, but get ready for some fingers

For what it is and at what price, it's a good solution if you need to clean your rims and nothing more than want to spend $50 on it. automatic cleaner. However, I've DEFINITELY worked with better manual cleaners than this: it's very cheap, with cleaning pads that are prone to resetting (you heard that right, they reset), and the mechanism for cleaning drives is very primitive. .I'm not an engineer so I'll describe it as best I can: There is a small knob attached to the handle that spins a gear which spins other gears which spin cleaning pads which then clean the underside of the disc by spinning the disc itself . Take it? Well, part of the problem is that the handle that turns the crank is already so small that it's hard to grab after a few turns; Imagine trying to spin this roughly 5 inch wheel with a flat pin/nail sized paddle (the type used for cork boards). Another problem is that the central assembly (?) with the central gear that controls the movement of the two cleaning pads easily "get off the rails": this results in the disc not moving and therefore not being cleaned . This can easily happen when you're trying to survive a quick clean, which I can't fault anyone if you want to do this: the product's instructions require you to TURN the disc TEN COMPLETELY to clean it. No, it won't. However, to my credit, I've found that the hard drives clean up after about half that amount. However, you still need something to wipe away the excess cleaning solution. Overall, this is an incredibly cheap hard drive cleaning solution that mostly serves its useful purpose. But if you're looking for a GOOD clean and/or have more than five CDs at a time that need cleaning, fine. Let's just say I'm looking at a battery/electric powered option in the near future.
