Cannot be used with Thunderbolt display - will not power a 16 " Mac

UPDATE: I can't even use this thing to power my 16" MacBook Pro to supply/charge. I'm assuming it won't support the 96W power requirement for a large laptop. I got it to "dock" my MacBook Air, but it can't be used for that. Only one of the two USB-C ports can be used for power or Thunderbolt, so I can't connect the power cord and the display at the same time, making it unusable. If you only have one HDMI monitor it will likely work if you don't have any other Thunderbolt devices.
