I decided to have one large holder for all my kitchen spoons, spatulas, tongs, whisks and whatever. I had a small holder that we always stuffed full, and then the rest of the dishes were strewn about in random drawers. There was no real system, you just had to remember where it was the last time you saw it. I'm so glad I bought this - yes it's big. But if you have a lot of utensils, it actually saves space and of course time, because you know exactly where everything is. I always have 18 to 20 pieces of cutlery in there at the same time, including bulky things like a potato masher and a colander with a handle. It's heavy gauge stainless steel and goes well with my tech. I haven't noticed any significant fingerprint issues. It's tall, so if you have a very short cookware it will just peek out from under the top. But the vast majority of utensils have inherently long handles, and they're all clearly visible.
