bought it to cut lawns

UPDATE: Well this blade was great for cutting lawns. However, it stalled almost immediately. I was hoping to get at least 3 or 4 uses from this, but one use of a few cuts was all the blade could endure. I know that cutting lawns is not what the blade was designed for, so you can either accept this comment or leave it. I need to find another peat cutting tool. First Review: I'm wondering if South Florida is the only place you use peat instead of grass seed? If you are laying a sod square (grass growing on a piece of earth), you may need to lay it around a curved area or on a piece of bare ground. I bought this curved "hawk's beak" knife to either cut grass that was already growing so I could lay a full square of lawn; or cut a piece of lawn to fit my space. I don't do a whole lawn; I only patch brown or bald patches. I use a knife to cut the grass and roots, then use a shovel or shovel to remove what isn't needed. So far this knife has served its purpose. It's strong enough and sharp enough. It opened and closed a little hard the first few times, but then it seemed to get better. I always wear thick leather gloves when working in the garden, so I close this knife with gloves on. You have to risk closing it - you have to squeeze the underside of the knife handle to release the lock on the blade. But the blade doesn't fold back and you can hold the blade with your other hand to guide it when you close the knife. Using a hand knife instead of a power tool gives me more control over what I'm doing. I just have to remember that my feet are not in the direction of my cuts. I looked at many knives and read all the reviews. This seemed to be the best answer to my needs.
