Review on NuForce BE Live5 Wireless Audiophile Earphones with 8-Hour Battery Life, AAC + aptX, Enhanced Bass with Large 8mm Driver, Innovative Battery Design, Aluminum Housing (Gold) by Tammy Campbell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good sound quality for the price

I'm picky about my sound so I don't buy a lot of wireless headphones - I normally listen to much more expensive headphones. In-ear monitors or headphones, often with an external headphone amplifier. But I wanted a wireless fitness kit, so after reading many reviews I settled on the NuForce BE Live5 as a likely candidate. Unfortunately, the first pair I received were oddly defective. After 10-15 minutes of play, one channel just disappeared. But Revain quickly replaced her and everything has been smooth sailing ever since. Overall, the BE Live5 delivers a smooth, balanced sound. The upper part has good detailing without too much "noise". The bass is surprisingly tight - not too boomy, but enough to add weight to rock/pop/electronic tracks (which is what I mostly hear at the gym). Compared to the wired NuForce EDC3 headphones - my current headphones - the BE Live5 doesn't have the same vibe and atmosphere, offering more bass for a slightly warmer sound. For my intended use, I find the audio quality to be good (and better than other similarly priced wireless devices I've tried). The build quality seems to be very good. A clever feature is that the back of the earbuds is magnetic, so they snag around your neck when you're not listening. (Note to NuForce: for this purpose, I'd like the cable to be just an inch longer.) Fit is typical; with foam inserts hold the buds in place well. In general I am very satisfied.

Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
