They work, it's cheap but there's a noticeable drop in print quality and they're noisy. Pros - cheap, you can hear my document being printed around the house Cons - lower print quality, I can hear every other item being printed around the house. You get used to the loud tapping over time, so being in the same room as the printer will lessen your fear of jumping.
