I've bought replacement cables for iPhone and iPad so many times only to throw them away after a few uses. What happened to the cables that lasted forever? like all the extension cords in my garage that I inherited from my parents 30 years ago. The difference is that these tiny cables will always bend, get stuck in tiny cramped spots, and won't break the cable itself, but the contact pad, which has just enough surface coverage to make good contact in the early stages, but silences the ears brought on by friction and time, and eventually fails. The cables here seem great and the endpoints that go into my iPhone are nice and new. Time will tell, but at some point they are also expected to fail and this is another reason why new contactless chargers and Bluetooth interfaces will continue to supplant hard physical connections, but this will likely lead to faster failure of the semiconductor in one Lead iPhone or iPad versus a cheap and easily replaceable $20 physical cable.
