Well, it's rare that you have a good idea of the quality of the product you've ordered before opening the box, but the weight of this bowl was already evident upon receipt. It's beautiful, it's actually a work of art. The weight and clarity of the glass is excellent and I expect to use it for salads, bites and no doubt some other uses I haven't thought of. I've been looking for salad bowls/interchangeable bowls for a while and have seen many more expensive ones but not as good ones. (Note added August 25, 2020: Yes, the glass has imperfections. A few very small bubbles and not a perfectly flat inner base, but that's part of the charm of glassware. I *would* buy it again and *will* consider it pull it out a gift in a moment. If you want the perfect glass, you'll often invest in Lalique for $1,000 a piece, but if you want a beautiful glass salad bowl that can perfectly serve other purposes, this is the real deal!)
