Review on STEM Magnetic Building Set For Kids - 96PCS Magnetic Tiles Construction Kit With Storage Box - Magnet Stacking Toys - Educational Preschool STEM Toys - Ideal Gifts For Boys And Girls - Gifts2U by Clay Ijaz

Mostly compatible with other sets

This is our third set of magnetic tiles, because our kids, particularly our 5-year-old, love them. Our first set Picasso Tiles, which is a great basic set. Then we got Neoformers, which is compatible with Picasso and very similar, so we can build even bigger things by combining both sets. Now we have this third set, which is mostly compatible, but significantly different from the first two sets. This has a lot of pieces, but many of the pieces are not magnetic. They snap into the magnetic pieces, so we can put architectural features like windows and balconies in the walls of our castles. This is cool, but these snap-in little plastic pieces aren’t compatible with our other two sets. Also, it seems like these non-magnetic pieces were included to pad the total count, since I’m sure they’re cheaper to manufacture than the magnetic tiles, so this can seem like a bigger, more impressive set if it says it includes a lot of pieces. Some of the non-magnetic pieces are really cool, though. My 5-year-old followed the directions and made a Ferris wheel with the provided, non-magnetic frame, and really enjoyed it. Here’s a video of me turning it.Also, it’s nice that this comes with a sturdy plastic container for storing the tiles. The other two brands just came in cardboard boxes, which are falling apart.

Pros
  • 3 years and up
Cons
  • The set may not come with enough storage options for all the pieces
