Does the job I bought it for

They aren't "brighter" than incandescent bulbs. However, they are lighter. LEDs are like tiny directional bright flashlights, unlike the warm light diffused by incandescent bulbs. Depending on the application and the reflectivity of the housing, they can generate more or less "light". I use them for parking lights and license plate lights. I wouldn't recommend it as a replacement for a center brake light as it's not as bright and can pose a safety issue in terms of visibility as the lens/brake housing isn't filled with light.
