I received this mug twice. The first cracked immediately when I poured boiling water over the tea. I was left with a broken non-functioning mug and a mess in the kitchen. In fact, I went back to the box and reread the instructions to make sure it was okay to pour boiling water. It was. It says boil water and pour it over the tea. So I made an exchange and the second one I received seems to be of better quality. It absorbs boiling water without breaking and I can enjoy my tea. That's good too, because it's a beautiful set of mugs. The design is very attractive and the ceramic has a rough matte finish. I like drinking tea. If you choose to do this, be warned of the quality control issues I've encountered. Hopefully the first issue I encountered was a one off issue and most were good/well done. They certainly look great and are a pleasure to drink from. Update: A few months later the second one they sent me held up great. The first must have been an isolated case. I'm increasing my rating from 4 stars to 5 stars because I love my teacup.
