I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box to use this stand. This is a very well built stand with great attention to detail. The stand is very stable and can easily carry a computer. The rubber grommets definitely help keep it in place. I am always concerned when receiving a product like this with cut metal as there are often burrs or dents on the edges. It was well made and definitely passed good quality control. I was also very pleased with the ability to position the tablet at the right height and angle. The articulated hinges on the laptop holder are very tight, which is much better than being too loose. Overall thickness when compressed is pretty thin - definitely less than 2 inches. Thus, it is definitely portable and transportable. Personally, I don't plan on using it when traveling, but it can definitely be transported if you want to take it with you on a trip.
