They really are oil soaked and one wipe is more than enough to completely remove makeup from your face including mascara. Although they are oily, they don't really leave my face feeling uncomfortable. I travel a lot so wipes are much easier to use and I can stick to my usual routine of an oil based cleanser followed by a rinsing cleanser. There is no weird smell or irritation and I tend to have sensitive skin. They're so good I think they'd even take off their stage makeup. As I don't use makeup every day I only use it on the days I do so the packaging lasts a long time making it very valuable and practical.
