My Lenovo T73 is thicker than most 17" laptops but this backpack fits in easily as long as I don't over stuff the main compartment. I'm a fairly tall guy (6ft 4in and a bit overweight) but the shoulder straps fit me well so take other reviews' claims of short straps with a grain of salt. Maybe I'm just not big enough to run into the problem. Based on feedback that the outer handle cover broke, I took preventive measures to prevent this from happening. between the outer handle cover and the inside of the steel cable handle and wrapped the entire handle with nylon tape. Will update my review if that isn't enough, but so far it seems to be very durable. Overall I am very happy with the backpack and its many compartments and pockets. In particular, the presence of four side pockets helps me to quickly find small items (when I remember which pocket I put them in!) since they are no longer mixed in one compartment.
