I see some reviews had trouble refilling this D-Earth device. I've used it this way about a dozen times and haven't had any problems. I also used a 5 gallon container and filled the bucket with water high enough to cover the unit as instructed. The machine was then turned on and 6 tablespoons of D-Earth (Harris Earth Food Grade) was added. It took about 20-30 minutes for the water in the buckets to clear. I'll let it run for another 20 minutes. I have found that when moving the unit from the bucket to the aquarium, it should be treated as if it were filled with nitroglycerin. The more he shakes, the more D-Earth comes out after you put him in the tank. Expect something no matter how gentle you are with it. But don't worry, it will clear up. At least that was always the case with my 70 gallon tank. I've let mine run overnight every time. As for those who had problems. I can only speculate that maybe the washer inside the filter holding the carriage was missing or off center. Either the pickup itself was defective, or too much or too little D-Ground was used. D-Earth greatly increases water buffing.
