Glass lids break when opened with too much pressure
Like many others here I have received items where a lid was broken (split) at the opening edge. I only use them to sterilize SOIL and peat moss for seed germination, not for cooking or food storage. Lids lack technical thoughtfulness, as the edge that takes all the pressure when closing or opening seems to protect the glass the least. Too much pressure and "Click! Splinters". Since I like to use sterile medium to grow the seeds of some rare plants, the clear glass lids give me additional options and are much deeper than traditional petri dishes.
