Almost everything you need in one compact package

This adapter/dongle is great for travel or remote work. I think it's much more convenient than looking in my pocket for a specific dongle e.g. a USB Type-C to USB Type-A adapter, or an SD card reader, etc. I can pull out that adapter and know I've got all the basics done. This adapter provides most of the ports I need on the go and allows for pass-through charging. I also love that this adapter plugs directly into the latest 15" MacBook Pro and matches the look and feel of the latest 15" MacBook Pro. I use a roost stand with my laptop when working remotely and find that other adapters with a short USB Type-C cable attached are not optimal for this setup. The cable on the other adapters I've tried doesn't reach all the way to the table, leaving the adapter hanging in mid-air creating an odd spot in the air for connecting and disconnecting peripherals. This HyperDrive adapter acts as an extension of the computer. The main disadvantage of this adapter is that it does not have Ethernet. I see that HyperDrive does one with Ethernet, but to reach a higher port they add a popup extension. I like the form factor of this device better. Since I use this adapter on the go, I rarely need Ethernet anyway. For my desktop at home and at the office, I have Thunderbolt 3 docking stations that I have connected to my wired networks. Another downside that I find common to all the adapters I've tried is that only one incoming USB Type-C port keeps the host computer fully charged. Since all adapters I've seen have this limitation, I really can't turn this one off because it's the same. It must be a technical limitation. All in all it might be a key to mastering them all lol.
