A few years later we added a cable to the antenna, then we added a quad-core PC tuner and cable card, so now we're navigating through Windows Media Center (WMC). a television screen. This is a huge improvement, allowing us to edit the program guide to our needs and eliminate unsubscribed channels, duplicate lists and the like. This setup has also added the whole house DVR function and we can also view the recorded programs via WMC. We were able to navigate the new setup using the xBox game controller, so this type of remote control isn't really required. I bought it because I took a used xBox (with a bad floppy drive) just to connect a cable to a second TV. The used xBox had no controllers and I knew it wasn't going to be used for gaming (relatively a bad drive) so I figured this remote would be a better match for this xBox. It works very well. This remote controls xBox and TV. The square green button is a hotkey in WMC, so I don't even go into the xBox control panel. After using this, the game controller became clumsy when navigating WMC. I brought the remote control from this "second" TV to our main TV. It was an imperfect solution as I didn't want to "out-sync" the remote with the TV I bought it for, but I lacked the ability to control the main TV's volume with a single device. Bought a second remote control. , exactly the same goods. Both still work great. The only difference was that the remote didn't sync up with our Panasonic TV as easily as the first did with Toshiba. No problem; We entered the codes found on the xBox support page and found the right one for our set. This was the only inconvenience and it didn't last long. This remote was reasonably priced and I liked that I could use it to navigate the WMC on my TV screen. Each device also syncs with its respective TV, one automatically and one manually. Apparently . . . I would (buy) again.
