These bars are quite nice. Three of them are unscrewed from two sides, two are unscrewed from one side only. The back of the frog is soldered in pretty well as you can see. The one with the turquoise ends isn't as noticeable at the back because it only unscrews one side, but the middle hanger is removable (slips off easily) so the full length of the bar can be slid through. I confess I'll have them soon too because I was amazed at their attractiveness and I'll have to wait to wear them in the future. These are all externally threaded rods. So if you are still healing it will be difficult to insert or remove as you will feel the ends of the thread tear your incompletely healed skin when pushed/pulled. My ear was definitely annoyed/mad at me because of this and I've had this piercing for 5 months now. Therefore, I only recommend such externally threaded rods after they have completely healed. To be honest I would love it if more rods were usually female threaded, but male threaded rods are usually the default. As for the plastic, I'm not sure I'll be using it. (Kind of bigger since I bought it for others) I've tried a Bioplast type tire for my day in the past and it's been awful. I noticed that the surface of this piercing was covered (so badly) in frost/caustic that bacteria would grow on it and it completely irritated and infected this piercing. I noticed that this plastic bar isn't as finished, it's smoother, so maybe it doesn't cause the same problem, but I'm a bit tired. I'm sick of that too as there's nothing on the market but flexible plastic instead of a hard acrylic slat. It would not be good to wear an industrial piercing for long while it is healing as the direction of the piercing holes can change without a rigid rod to align. So all the flexible plastic fashions just don't work for industrial piercing. Having flexible plastic sticks is good for the tongue, navel and maybe some other scenarios, but I really wish there were solid acrylic sticks for industrial use. Unfortunately I've never found one, but I'd be happy if I'm wrong. Finally, because they are made from surgical steel, they have a slight weight/weight feel. It doesn't bother me, but if it's a bit too sensitive for you, you can opt for the titanium version. Titanium's downside is that it's more expensive, but it's actually a lot lighter. Overall I'm happy with these nice rods for the price. I'm looking forward to being fit again and being able to change more regularly.
