What you get is metallic but the slider is too small to cut and swing from side to side. This allows one side to move more than the other, and the latch will bind and make it difficult to open. Even if you use 550 paracord there isn't enough tension to hold them securely. When closed, the paracord can be pulled through with very little effort.
