We've been using the same Panasonic 5.8Ghz line for many years and it's quiet. There's no background noise, but our new 4-line Panasonic is terrible. A constant high-pitched whistling comes from the handset of the base station, speakerphone, or extension, accompanied by other people's conversations. You can't understand what they're saying, but they sound like an off-frequency shortwave broadcast. We've done all the fixes recommended by Panasonic and nothing works. It's still there. Now they have suggested that I send it to their service center and they will send me a refurbished unit within 7-10 business days. I haven't just paid hundreds of dollars to get a "refurbished" used phone. . . .and how should I manage my business in these "7-10 business days"? The sound quality of outgoing voice mail and answering machine is excellent. Why can't standby music be recorded with the same clarity? Both the pre-recorded music on hold and everything we upload to the music on hold system sounds terrible. Very low accuracy and distortion. Don't think you can use your professional voice with this system. It's actually less painful for your callers if you just turn off your music on hold. Very disappointed with this and I have been a fan of Panasonic products for decades.
